Tutorials

In 2011, I started writing tutorials for friends and family when technical documentation fails. Sometimes it’s nice to have things reworded in plain English. And that’s what I’ve attempted to do. Here are the tutorials I’ve written.

For NOOK Tablet

Rooting

How to Root your NOOK Tablet – So, I got a NOOK Tablet. You know I couldn’t leave it stock. Here is how you go about adding some good ol’ Android functionality to that bad boy.

For NOOKcolor

Dual Booting

How to dual boot your NOOKcolor – I spent over 9 hours writing a tutorial to dual boot your NOOKcolor from the microSD slot. This process gives you full Android tablet functionality with absolutely no risk to your NOOKcolor. The NOOKcolor remains stock. Take the card out and it’s back to normal.

Updating your CM7 dual boot microSD card – A lot of folks have installed CM7 via the directions on my site. The question that follows is always “Now, how do I update it?” Well. Now you know.

What to expect: NOOKcolor dual boot – I get a lot of questions about what the NOOKcolor looks like after you follow the NOOKcolor dual boot process on my website. Wonder no longer.

I bought a card from you. Now what? [Aka How do I navigate this damned thing and setup up Wi-Fi?] – I originally wrote this for the folks who bought a microSD card from me pre-loaded with CM7 but it’s pretty helpful in it’s own right for the purposes specified.

Rooting (These directions are a bit dated by now)

How to Root your NOOKcolor - There are a lot of people paying for a service that is remarkably easy to do on your own. I took some geniuses work over at XDA and converted their words to plain English with pictures. All credit goes to them. I’m standing on the shoulders of giants in this tutorial.

What’ll my NOOKcolor look like post-root? – A lot of doubt surrounding rooting or flashing a device is not knowing what will be waiting for you on the other side. I wrote this article to give people an idea of what to expect once they’ve rooted.

For NOOK Simple Touch

NOOKfriends: A NOOKtouch tutorial - I wrote this for a Facebook group that I hang around at regularly. It’s strictly for members of that group. It won’t likely serve much purpose beyond that group.
